TASKLOCAL

Terms & Conditions of Use

Service agreement for the bilateral auction/intermediation model.

1. Nature of the service and responsibility

1.1 Intermediary role. TaskLocal acts exclusively as a digital intermediary and auction-matching software provider. It connects Customers and independent Handymen and does not create an employment, agency or partnership relationship with either party.

1.2 Independence of the parties. The main economic transaction and the agreement for the work take place directly between the Customer and the Handyman. TaskLocal is not a party to the contract for the work itself.

1.3 Limitation of responsibility. TaskLocal does not guarantee the quality, safety, legality or punctuality of work carried out by a Handyman. Disputes regarding the performance of the work are between the Customer and the Handyman, subject to applicable consumer law.

2. Auction mechanism and platform fees

2.1 Offers. A Customer publishes a job and registered Handymen may submit personalised offers based on availability and competence.

2.2 Bilateral commission. When the Customer accepts an offer, TaskLocal charges a platform fee equal to 5% of the accepted offer to the Customer and 3% to the Handyman.

2.3 Service fee. The fees are the charge for using the platform and unlocking private contact details and are collected through the platform payment gateway.

3. Contact unlocking and the 24-hour rule

3.1 Customer payment. After accepting an offer, the Customer pays the Customer-side 5% fee. The job is then locked against further offers, but private contact details remain protected.

3.2 Handyman payment. The Handyman is notified and must pay the Handyman-side 3% fee. Private contact details are shown to both parties only after both platform fees have been successfully paid.

3.3 Expiry and refund. If the Handyman does not pay their fee within 24 hours, the agreement may be cancelled, the Customer-side fee refunded, and the job reopened on the marketplace.

4. Anti-circumvention and communication rules

4.1 No bypassing the platform. Customers and Handymen must not attempt to bypass the platform fee by sharing private contact details before both fees are paid. This includes telephone numbers, email addresses, social-media accounts, external links, usernames or instructions to contact each other elsewhere.

4.2 Automated moderation. TaskLocal may automatically detect, block and record suspected contact-sharing attempts in job posts, bids, offer descriptions and chat messages.

4.3 Site violations. Attempts to circumvent the platform are recorded as Site Violations. Repeated attempts may result in warnings, a final warning and temporary or permanent account restrictions in accordance with TaskLocal's enforcement policy.

5. Profile accuracy and verification

Handymen must provide accurate and up-to-date personal, professional and verification information. A verification badge indicates a document check only; it is not a guarantee of technical competence or a commercial recommendation.

6. Tax and marketplace reporting obligations

Each Handyman remains responsible for their own tax and social-security obligations. Where applicable, TaskLocal may collect and report identifying, tax and transaction information required by marketplace-reporting rules.

7. Applicable law and consumer rights

These Terms are governed by the law applicable to the company operating TaskLocal. Nothing in these Terms removes any mandatory rights that a consumer has under applicable law.

Platform rule: Contact details cannot be shared before both platform fees are paid. Attempts to bypass this rule may be recorded as a Site Violation.
